JC Penney Returns to Vacated Plano HQ

JC Penney was once a household name among American retailers. But the company couldn’t compete with the burgeoning lean and nimble competitors that came after them. JC Penney abandoned its Plano headquarters in 2020 after declaring bankruptcy. But now, after reorganizing and updating their operations, they have returned to the same HQ at its former address on Legacy Drive in Plano.

The Dallas Business Journal reports the more than 120-year-old retailer will take down 320,000 square feet amid the 86-acre The Campus at Legacy West. JCPenney’s office space was renovated to include two pickleball courts, an arcade, fitness centers, a golf simulator and open office space. The new office will be able to hold over 2,000 employees.
