JBG Smith to Close Three National Landing Offices
JBG Smith Properties is moving forward with plans to remove several aging office buildings in National Landing from service. The Bethesda developer will reduce its office stock by 12% by mothballing towers comprising 743,000 square feet, Washington Business Journal reported.
The three offices coming offline were all built in the 1960s. 1800 S. Bell St went out of service in the first quarter, with its prior tenant, Amazon.com Inc., having moved into Met Park, the first phase of its HQ2. JBG Smith filed plans in January to redevelop the property with 308,000 square feet of new office space over about 4,000 square feet of retail.
2100 Crystal Drive will come out of service in the second quarter following the expiration of Amazon’s lease there. 2200 Crystal Drive will be phased out as tenants’ leases expire. New construction on these sites could begin as early as 2026.
