JBG Smith to Build Larger Office Tower in National Landing
JBG Smith, the principal developer at National Landing in Arlington, has filed a conceptual site plan for a larger office tower at 1800 S. Bell St., located across the street from Amazon’s HQ2, Washington Business Journal reported.
The proposal is for a 15-story, 312,000-square-foot building, replacing the existing 12-story office building where Amazon initially set up its HQ2 in 2018. The new plan, representing a 22% increase in size, includes 308,000 square feet of new office space and about 4,000 square feet of retail.
“Covid is probably going to take another five or 10 years to be done with its effect on the office market. There will be demand for new office again one day, but it’s a day in the future,” Potomac Yard, JBG Smith CEO Matt Kelly, told Journal.
