Israelis Impacting NYC Real Estate Market

WeWork and Compass, a real-estate platform providing brokerage services, have two things in common. First, they’re headquartered in New York. And second, they were both founded by Israelis.

According to “Israeli Mapped in NY,” Adam Neumann, who founded WeWork, and Ori Allon, who launched Compass, are among more than a dozen real estate start-ups in and around Manhattan, launched by Israelis who are developing different ways in which real estate can be bought, sold and rented.

Yossi Shemesh, co-founder of start-up Oliver, said the industry is ripe for disruption. Millennials and Generation-Z’s are eschewing the typical brokerage and lead-gen platforms; they want instant connections. Oliver helps individuals rent apartments more quickly, by providing a direct list of landlords.
