Is A Millennial Mass Exodus Building in Bay Area?
A growing number of people are considering leaving the Bay Area, compared to a year ago. The percentage of residents indicating they may relocate out of the region in the coming years increased to 40% in the latest poll conducted by the Bay Area Council. In 2016, the intent to move stood at 33% of residents.
The relocation theme is underscored by a high number of Millennials (46%) who signaled they’d like to leave. The Bay Area Council says that runs counter to the common belief that younger adults want a “hyper-urban environment.” The group says they really want a house with a yard near work, similar to what their parents had.
The primary causes of the escalating discontent are traffic and skyrocketing housing costs.
