Irvine Co. Takes a Page From Tesla

The Irvine Co. has taken a page from the playbook of electric-car maker Tesla that might save the major Orange County landlord some money and be appropriated in other commercial real estate landlords’ assets.

Significant batteries are being used by Irvine to power some of its high rises that are inspired by the electric-car manufacturer. The commercial real estate owner and operator, which is arguably the largest in Orange County, has formed a partnership with Advanced Microgrid Solutions (AMS) and SoCal Edison.

Reportedly, the technology could save Irvine $100,000 a year for only two office buildings.
