The Irvine Spectrum Center is trying to make sure that it has a back-to-school success. The popular Orange County shopping center is attempting to draw visitors with a festival on Aug. 15.

There will be YouTube bloggers at the event, free amusement rides, photo booths and other attractions.

Meanwhile, The Irvine Co.’s Fashion Island shopping center is extending its hours. The facility will be open until 11 p.m. through Sept. 7. Alton Square, another Irvine Co. facility, will also hold events, such as eateries being open until midnight throughout the summer.
