Irvine Company executive J.D. Shafer, former general manager of the Hotel Irvine, has been named a senior director of community management for Irvine Company Apartment Communities.

In his new position, Shafer will oversee four properties near the Irvine Spectrum. They include the Park at Irvine Spectrum Center, Los Olivos Apartment Homes, the Village at Irvine Spectrum Center and the new Centerpointe.

Shafer previously presided over the renovation of the Hotel Irvine, where he added his personal touch to redesigned public and dining spaces, as well as introducing movie nights on the hotel’s new “backyard lawn”.
