IRA Capital Acquires UCSD Cancer Center, Its Eighth in 90 Days

Southern California private equity firm IRA Capital (IRA) recently acquired the UCSD Cancer & Health Center located in Vista. The medical building is approximately 20,000 square feet and 100 percent leased to the University of California San Diego Health System.

Having occupied the first floor of the facility since 2011 as one of UCSD’s two cancer infusion centers in Northern San Diego County, the property is situated off Sycamore Avenue with access to highway 78, I-5 and I-15. In addition to providing much-needed cancer treatment services to the local community, UCSD Health recently expanded its occupancy to include the second floor where it will be providing primary care services. The property is located within a four-building medical complex occupied by cancer treatment and imaging/diagnostics providers.

“UCSD Health’s recent expansion at the building demonstrates its long-term commitment to the property, and to providing high-quality oncology and primary care services in Northern San Diego. This latest acquisition is representative of IRA’s strategy of aligning with top-tier health systems and supporting their efforts in delivering efficient and quality healthcare,” says Amer Kasm, IRA Capital co-founder.

The UCSD Health acquisition represents IRA’s eighth medical office acquisition in the past 90 days. The purchase price was undisclosed.

Peter Curry, Mark Avilla and Bob Cowan with Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller in the transaction. Prior to sale, the firm had also recently helped to negotiate a long-term lease renewal to UCSD Health in the building.
