Interstate Equities Adds San Jose Apartments to Portfolio

Interstate Equities Corporation (IEC), a vertically integrated real estate investment and management firm specializing in multifamily properties throughout California and the Seattle area, has acquired Atrium Garden, a 160-unit multifamily community in San Jose, for $18.45 million.

The transaction marks IEC’s continued expansion throughout high-demand West Coast markets, where
attainable, quality housing options remain scarce, said Marshall Boyd, co-president and CIO.

“The acquisition of Atrium aligns well with our investment thesis of identifying vintage multifamily properties serving housing needs in high-demand regions like the Bay Area,” Boyd said. “San Jose remains one of the least affordable housing markets in the U.S., and this community offers smaller units at attractive rates. These appeal to a range of different residents, including up-and-coming professionals moving to the area, those who work short-term contract jobs and those who travel frequently, due to
the property’s location adjacent to the San Jose Mineta International Airport, among others.”
