Interfaith Breaks Ground on Passive Housing Project in Garfield Park

Interfaith Housing Development Corporation (IHDC) has broken ground on the Conservatory Apartments, located on Chicago’s West Side. Situated just north of the Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, the project will contain 43 units and is intended to be Chicago’s first large-scale residential development to achieve Passive House certification.

“IHDC is committed to providing the healthiest and safest affordable living environments possible’ that’s why we continue to push for programs that advance human and environmental health through sustainable design,” said Perry Vietti, president of IHDC.

Of the Conservatory’s 43 new units, 34 will target individuals who are chronically homeless and who have a disability, and nine are set aside for tenants from the Illinois State Referral Network.
