Interest Rates Won’t Increase, Say (Most) Economists
Interest rates won’t rise when the Federal Reserve meets for a policy meeting next week, according to a poll done by the Wall Street Journal, which surveyed business and academic economists.
But it was a slim margin. Fifty-four percent of those polled said interest-rate hikes will not happen this month, while 46 percent indicated that increases would come during one of the remaining months of the year.
Problems with the economy in China could be one of the main drivers for the wait in interest-rate increases, which most experts previously agreed would happen this month.
