Intellia Therapeutics Consolidates Space at Cambridge, Waltham Locations

Gene-editing company Intellia Therapeutics Inc. is shaking up its Cambridge and Waltham, MA real estate footprints, reported the Boston Business Journal. The company has signed a lease with Alexandria Real Estate Equities for around 101,000 square feet of office and laboratory space at 400 Technology Sq. in Cambridge and plans to add about 46,000 square feet more at 400 Tech when it becomes available.

Intellia plans to consolidate some of the more than 250,000 square feet it occupies at six other Cambridge locations to 400 Tech, the company said in an SEC filing. It didn’t specify which of these locations would be affected.

Simultaneously, the company plans an early exit from a 140,000-square-foot space at 8409 Winter St. in Waltham, also leased from Alexandria, the Business Journal reported. The company recently went through a restructuring that resulted in layoffs and a reduction in its pipeline.
