Inland Empire Manufacturers Largely Optimistic
The latest manufacturing report issued by the Institute for Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino reveals manufacturing is securely back in a growth mode. A survey of local purchasing managers notes 45% forecasted economic improvement in the next quarter, and just 7% projected a weaker economy.
Forty-eight percent of the respondents say the local economy will remain the same next quarter.
Barbara Sirotnik, the report’s author, noted it was a “very strong report.” She sees “positive signs” reflected in the uptick in orders because it shows customers are buying locally-made products.
Sirotnik surmised that concern over a new Presidential administration caused people to hold off a bit. Now that the dust has settled, orders are coming in.
