Incentives Offered to Katerra for $109M Investment

The San Marcos City Council authorized an incentive agreement with Katerra, a Silicon Valley-headquartered manufacturing company. The agreement is the first step in paving the way toward development of a 600,000-square-foot facility, a $109-million capital investment and a minimum of 542 full-time jobs.

The agreement provides incentives over a 10-year period through annual refunds of a portion of new property taxes. Furthermore, certain development standards would be waived.

The next step is for Caldwell County to vote to authorize the agreement. The targeted site for the 600,000-square-foot facility is on SH 80 east of SH 21. Katerra, an off-site construction company, plans to use the facility to manufacture building components and materials including wall panels, floor systems, roof truss assemblies and windows.
