IMT’s Icon Greenlit for Sherman Oaks MXU
L.A.-based developer IMT Residential’s plans to deliver a mixed-use redevelopment including multifamily and retail environments around the former Sunkist HQ office building in Sherman Oaks is moving ahead, following the recent project approval by the L.A. City Council’s planning and land use committee.
The existing 127,000-square-foot ‘Brutalist’-style office building constructed in the 1970s will remain, and be refurbished as an anchor component to the planned mixed-use redevelopment on the site’s 8.3 acres.
The project, dubbed Icon, was originally proposed in 2016 and is designed by Johnson Fain. In its approved version, the development calls for 249 housing units (a slight drop from the 298 originally planned according to reports), about 27,500 square feet of retail and restaurants, including a grocery store. Icon will also have about 1,100 parking spaces in a structure with three above-grade and two-below grade levels.
Connect Retail West is coming to Newport Coast, CA on Feb. 13. For more information, or to register, click here.
