Illinois Announces $41B Infrastructure Program

Illinois has unveiled the largest infrastructure program in the state’s history, with plans to spend $41.42 billion on roads, bridges, rail lines, ports and airports.

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced the fund had been awarded to 32 communities to support critical repairs to water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure. The six-year plan is a follow up to the $33.2 billion Rebuild Illinois plan created in 2019.

“Every community in Illinois deserves access to clean drinking water, regardless of where they live,” said Pritzker. “With the support of our federal partners, communities across the state will receive the resources they need to upgrade their water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure system. These projects will benefit the health and wellness of their residents for years to come.”
