Illinois Achieves Full Statewide Eligibility for Vaccine
Residents aged 16 and older in all Illinois counties are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, Gov. JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health announced recently. To date, 73% of Illinois seniors and 42% of Illinoisans 16 and over have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with one-quarter of the 16 and over population fully vaccinated.
“Weeks ago, we set our sights on April 12 as the date for every county receiving vaccine from the state to open to full eligibility, and I’m so proud that all 101 counties and Suburban Cook have met that timeline,” said Pritzker.
However, Pritzker reminded Illinoisans over the weekend that the pandemic isn’t over yet. On April 8, the state set a new one-day record for vaccinations but also recorded the highest number of new COVID cases since January, with 4,004 confirmed cases added to the total.
