IKEA Submits Plans for First WI Store
In a move to increase its presence in the Midwest, IKEA has submitted plans for approval to the city of Oak Creek, WI. Once approved, construction of IKEA Oak Creek could begin by spring of next year, with completion by mid-2018.
The 295,000-square-foot proposed store, Wisconsin’s first, would be on 29 acres at Interstate 94 and Drexel Avenue, approximately 12 miles south of downtown Milwaukee. Store plans include 1,200 parking spaces.
“We are excited at the possibility of growing our Midwestern U.S. presence with a Milwaukee-area store,” said IKEA U.S. president Lars Petersson. The retailer currently has stores in Bolingbrook and Schaumburg IL, and Bloomington, MN.
