IKEA Secures Spot for Second Dallas-Area Locale

More than a decade after opening its first Dallas-area store in the far-north suburb of Frisco, IKEA is back for a second go-round, this time in Grand Prairie, TX. MYCON General Contractors is the general contractor and, pending permits, construction is scheduled to begin in October, with the store opening planned for fall of next year.

The 290,000-square-foot IKEA Grand Prairie and its 1,100 parking spots will go north on 30 acres at SH 161 and Mayfield Road, north of Interstate 20. The location is approximately 14 miles west of downtown Dallas, and 18 miles east of downtown Fort Worth. An adjacent 15 acres could eventually be used for commercial or retail uses.
