Ikea Planning Distribution Set-Up in Generation Park
International furniture distributor Ikea acquired 143.43 acres from McCord Development at Generation Park on Houston’s northeast side. With the land in hand, the Netherlands-headquartered Ikea can begin construction on a distribution center that would range from 1.2 million square feet-1.5 million square feet. Ikea will own the property it develops. A construction timeline was not issued.
Ikea currently leases one million square feet near Port Houston.
Generation Park is a 4,000-acre, mixed-use commercial development. Businesses on site include TechnipFMC (which has a large campus on 173 acres) and GHX Industrial, which took space in 143,500 square feet. Stolt-Neilsen is also planning its new headquarters in the development.
