Iconic El Paso Skyscraper Gets New Name
One of downtown El Paso’s largest buildings — the former Chase Tower — has a new name. From now on, the 351,270-square-foot building at 201 E. Main St. will be known as One San Jacinto Plaza. Borderplex Realty Trust, a local REIT, owns the office building. The top of the skyscraper is being reserved for a future building tenant, which the owner said will be announced soon.
Chase Bank relocated to the nearby Mills Building at 303 N. Oregon St. in fall 2017, taking its name with it.
In addition to changing the name, the owners installed a new LED lighting system, which lights up the building’s exterior. The Borderplex trust received a $25,000 grant from the Downtown Management District’s Iconic Signage and Lighting Program to help pay for the $100,000 system.
