Hutto’s $105M Entertainment District Moves Forward

Acreage surrounding a former cotton gin in the Austin suburb of Hutto is being redeveloped into a $105 million entertainment and civic area named the Co-Op District.

The Hutto City Council is currently in negotiation talks with Austin-based developer MA Partners. The project, located near Short Street and Highway 79, could include dining options, a cinema, offices and a new city hall and police station.

Construction is expected to begin in 2018. The major redevelopment follows the 2015 Antenora Architects-led redesign of the cotton gin facility into a highly awarded event space. The cotton gin had been in operation from 1938 to the early 2000s.
