Hutto Planning Regional Park, Buys 65 Acres
The city of Hutto, TX acquired more than 65 acres of parkland near County Road 137 and Farm-to-Market Road 1660 South. The land, for which the city paid $1.7 million, will be used for a new regional park. The acreage doubles the size of adjacent Fritz Park.
The buy is part of the city’s parks, open space and trails master plan, which was revised in 2015.
Hutto’s Parks and Recreation Department is currently working with a design firm to determine the number of fields that will be able to fit in the park. Other possible amenities include an amphitheater, additional event space, and its own trail system. The city could go to a bond election in November 2017 to fund park improvements and amenities.
