Humanity Seattle–King & Kittitas Counties Recognized for Affordable Housing Impact
The Washington State Senate has passed a resolution recognizing Habitat Humanity Seattle–King & Kittitas Counties four decades of impact on affordable housing in the region.
Senate Resolution 8697 recognizes the connection between stable housing and outcomes such as improved health, educational success, and economic opportunity. As part of Habitat’s ongoing advocacy and awareness efforts, Habitat SKKC works to raise awareness of the housing challenges facing Washington residents and highlight the proven, results-driven solutions that address them.
Since 1986, Habitat SKKC has constructed or renovated 458 homes and completed 650 home repairs, serving more than 2,600 families. Through a mix of public and private funding, Habitat SKKC is able to offer homeownership opportunities at about half of market-rate housing. With an additional 257 homes in the construction pipeline through the end of the decade, Habitat SKKC stands ready to serve approximately 200 families each year by 2029.
