Huge Port Project in San Diego Opened for Public Review
With an anticipated $3.5 billion total cost, the Seaport San Diego project from developer 1HWY1 and the Port of San Diego is live online, and ready for public scrutiny and consumption.
The information comes in the form of 167 pages of detailed specifications, details and even “narrative” explanations, according to a news release.
The document, five years in the making, was presented to San Diego’s port commission on March 8, but no action was taken as the commission will continue to ponder the impact the enormous project will have on, in many ways, the presence and approach of San Diego.
In a couple of nutshells:
- The project will reimagine San Diego’s entire Embarcadero Marina Park North, which is adjacent to the tourist-destination USS Midway Museum
- It includes 105 acres of land and water area — and 2.7 million square feet of mixed-use development — in and around San Diego Bay
The full, 167 pages of the project’s approach and its details are here.
