Hudson Yards Opens for Business
An enormous mixed-use complex first imagined by city planners nearly two decades ago is holding its grand opening beginning Friday at noon. Related Oxford’s Hudson Yards, the largest private development in U.S. history, will open its doors to the public. Sort of.
Some components, including the office tower at 10 Hudson Yards, have been up and running for some time. Others won’t be rolled out until later, such as 50 Hudson Yards, which BlackRock will anchor when it’s completed in 2022.
The weekend’s grand opening festivities will center around the one-million-square-foot Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, as well as the Hudson Yards Public Square and Gardens.
The public square includes a climbable staircase featuring 154 intricately-interconnecting flights of stairs and known temporarily as Vessel.
While announcing opening-weekend events, Related Oxford also revealed details about the Hudson Yards Hiring Network, a public-private partnership to staff the complex’s properties.
