Hudson Yards Centerpiece Begins Its Climb

The first 10 pieces of the massive public landmark at the center of Manhattan’s Hudson Yards will be lifted into place starting April 18, 2017.
The twin staircases of the structure, named Vessell, will top out at 150 feet by the end of this year. It will formally open to the public in fall 2018, with the entire Public Square and Gardens and one-million-square-foot retail center.
The 103 steel pieces of the massive sculpture will arrive in New York City after crossing the Atlantic in six separate shipments from Monfalcone, Italy.
