How Will Amazon’s 100K Hiring Spree Impact Inland Empire?
Seattle-based Amazon announced plans this week to add 100,000 people in the U.S. over the coming 18 months. The jobs are expected to be full time with benefits, primarily at fulfillment centers under construction.
Since the largest concentration of Amazon fulfillment centers in the state are in the Inland Empire, the region is expected to experience a sizable economic boost as a result.
Amazon, with its two facilities, is already the largest private employer in Moreno Valley. Moreno Valley’s Economic Development Director Mike Lee says, “With the facilities they have in the Inland Empire, Amazon is primed to be the top private employer in the area. Inland Empire still has the available land and workforce that they need.”
New facilities are being added in Eastvale and San Bernardino, joining others in Rialto, Redlands and Moreno Valley. Amazon now employs 15,000 full-time people in the Inland Empire.
