Houston is #1 . . . According to U-Haul
Houston is the No. 1 U-Haul U.S. Destination City in 2016, according to the do-it-yourself moving company’s latest migration trends report. The first-place designation is the Bayou City’s eighth in a row, which came as no surprise to Jerry Lunn, U-Haul Company of Gulf Coast president.
“In the last year, I’ve seen countless skyscrapers and condos being built,” he said. “U-Haul is continuously expanding its locations and buying space for new facilities, to accommodate the do-it-yourself movers and self-storage customers coming to the area.” The Houston area boasts 32 company-owned stores, and more than 140 independent neighborhood dealers.
Other Texas cities also finished strong. San Antonio came in as the third top destination city (up two places from 2015’s fifth-place ranking), while Austin dropped to fourth place, from third. Interestingly enough, Dallas, which has been reporting the lion’s share of corporate relocations lately, was in 17th place.
