The Houston City Council, the Harris County Commissioners and the Buffalo Bayou Partnership have put the pieces in play to begin work on the much anticipated $310 million Buffalo Bayou East Master Plan. The three groups targeted a four mile stretch for the renovation project that runs from US 59 to the Port of Houston Turning Basin.

Besides trails, parks and infrastructure improvements the plan calls for an 80-unit multifamily community with 72 being classified as affordable.

The City of Houston is contributing $83.5 million for the plan with $36.7 million to be utilized for park projects and $46.8 million for non park projects. Harris County, federal grants and private grants will fund the remainder. The Kinder Foundation just announced a $100 million gift for the project.
