New Hope receives $50M in loans to build 2 Houston affordable housing projects

Houston Affordable Housing Builder Teams Up With Bezos Academy

New Hope Housing (NHH), with the help of $50 million in financing from Amegy Bank, is moving forward on two new apartment projects strictly for low to moderate-income residents.

NHH will call the projects NHH Gray and NHH Berry. The two developments will create 300 affordable units for low- and moderate-income residents.

NHH Berry, which will be located at 706 Berry St., will feature 180 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes. Meanwhile, NHH Gray, located at 2604 Gray St., will have 135 one- and two-bedroom apartments.

The buildings are set to break ground in October with an estimated completion date of July 2025.

Both of the NHH locations will also have on-site locations of Bezos Academy, the tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool funded by billionaire Jeff Bezos’ personal philanthropy. The school is available to eligible families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level, and students are admitted through a random lottery drawing.
