Housing and Light Manufacturing Eyed for Vacant Red Hook Warehouse

DRAW Brooklyn, led by longtime Red Hook resident Alexandros Washburn, announced plans for the Model Block redevelopment project. It aims to transform a vacant warehouse at 145 Wolcott St. in Red Hook into mixed-income housing, light manufacturing and office space, an art gallery and space for a restaurant and local stores.

Washburn is former chief urban designer of New York City and founding president of the Moynihan Station Development Corporation. He has partnered with Washington, DC-based development firm Four Points, LLC on the project.

“This is a site my neighbors and others from across Red Hook have discussed for years – often at community planning sessions on the ground floor of my house on Van Brunt Street,” said Washburn. “The Model Block is the direct result of those conversations.”

The projected has entered the New York Board of Standards and Appeals public review process for a zoning variance.
