Hotel Planned for Magnolia Village
The Fort Worth City Council is expected to vote Jan. 24 on a zoning change for a six-story, 138-room, hotel-condo development at 1205-1217 W. Henderson St., in Fort Worth’s Magnolia Village. Plans show that the development’s style would complement the 100-year-old B. Max Mehl building next door, and would also offer ground-floor retail space. The developer is listed as Dolabi Family LLC, with Bennet-Benner Partners the architect of record.
The proposed zoning change would build several waivers into Near Southside Development Standards and Guidelines, including hotel use. The development has generated some controversy over fears that the style might not match the neighborhood, and that the development could create more traffic and pedestrian congestion in the area.
