Hotel Paso Del Norte Developer Seeking County Incentives
Meyers Group has launched renovation on the Hotel Paso del Norte in downtown El Paso. But the developer of the project at 101 S. El Paso St. is planning to go back to the county to request tax incentives to complete it. “We have a hole in the budget,” Meyers Group’s Alan Losada told the El Paso Times.
The developer said that, without the county’s incentives, adjustments will need to be made to the $70 million renovation project at 101 S. El Paso St. More than $32 million in state and city tax incentives has already been approved.
The County Commissioners Court has discussed the incentive package for the Meyers Group at least five times in executive sessions, with no public action taken on the matter. Meyers Group had gone ahead and started the renovation because it had a construction loan and some of its own money to buy the property, and launch the renovation.
