Horizon Therapeutics Strikes Deal on Former Takeda Campus

Horizon Therapeutics has agreed to purchase the three-building, 650,000-square-foot campus in Deerfield, IL that formerly housed Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Deal terms weren’t disclosed. The sale is expected to close in the first quarter, and Horizon is expected to occupy the campus in the second half of 2020.

“Lake County has a rich life sciences ecosystem and we are looking forward to continuing to contribute to and lead the growth of that ecosystem,” said Timothy Walbert, Horizon’s CEO. “This new campus gives us the flexibility to accommodate our current employees as well as our anticipated long-term growth.”

Horizon was represented by CBRE in the acquisition. Savills’ Eric Feinberg advised Takeda.

Takeda announced in fall 2018 that it would relocate its U.S. headquarters to Boston. Feinberg told the Chicago Tribune last October that developing the Takeda campus today would cost more than $260 million.

Connect Industrial Midwest is coming to Rosemont, IL on March 4. For more information, or to register, click here.
