Horizon and Life Tower Projects Are Neck and Neck Near TMC

Medistar Corp. and Healthcare Trust of America Inc. recently broke ground on Horizon Tower, a new life sciences and medical building, and topped out Life Tower, a student housing property, at Texas A&M Innovation Plaza in Houston. The buildings are adjacent to Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.

Horizon Tower, slated for delivery in early 2023, will include 17 stories, with three floors offering 38,000-square-foot floorplates and 14 stories providing 28,000-square-foot floorplates. Horizon Tower will sit atop a 13-story parking structure and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Life Tower totals 19 stories of student housing including 483 one-, two- and four-bedroom units and is slated to deliver in the summer of 2022, with move-ins available for the 2022 academic year.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Tim Relyea, William Hartman, Morgan Relyea Colt and James Gale are leasing Horizon Tower. CIM Group provided construction financing, Harvey Commercial General Contracting is the general contractor and Kirksey Architecture is the architect.
