Hong Kong Investors Pile into Singapore
Hong Kong investors are pouring money into Singapore, looking for deals. Over the last 12 months, Hong Kong investors have bought properties in Singapore totaling S$880 million ($626 million in U.S. dollars). That’s more than three times the total (S$250) for the year before, according to CBRE.
Singapore’s prices may seem relatively low compared with what these Hong Kong investors are used to at home. “Most of them would like to invest in Hong Kong for the long term, but the market is toppish,” said Denis Ma, head of research for Hong Kong at JLL. “Singapore is a market that has undergone a correction. It seems to be close to the bottom.”
