Home Depot Takes 1.2M-SF at Baltimore’s Tradepoint Atlantic Development
Home Depot signed a lease for 1.2 million square feet at Tradepoint Atlantic, a 3,100-acre logistics and maritime development located on Chesapeake Bay in Southeastern Baltimore County, MD. The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer will occupy two new distribution warehouses at the former Sparrows Point steel mill site, being developed by a JV between Redwood Capital Investments and Hilco Global.
The expansion is part of a strategy to offer fast home deliveries to customers. A Home Depot spokesperson said, “This is part of our investment strategy we announced over a year ago to speed up delivery to customers and stores, eventually reaching 90% of our customers with same day-next day delivery.”
The two Home Depot facilities join Tradepoint’s existing buildings, including a 306,016-square-foot distribution facility occupied by FedEx Ground, and a nearly one-million-square-foot warehouse housing Amazon.com. Tradepoint Atlantic includes 700 acres designated for distribution, warehouse and/or manufacturing use, with up to 10 million square feet of development.
