Katy annexes land to take on Home Depot

Home Depot Heading to Katy

There are over 2,300 Home Depots in the country. For a town to qualify, there needs to be 50,000 people within ten miles. Eventhough Katy Texas has half that number, Home Depot thinks it’s worth the gamble. The Houston metro area has more stores than any other metro in the country and they expect the Houston suburb of Katy to deliver.

The towns City Council has okayed an annexation agreement which allows Home Depot to move onto a lot just outside the city limits. The town will pay for the utilities to be brought to the lotline.

Home Depot will build its new store at the northwest corner of the Cane Island Parkway – Kingsland. Boulevard intersection south of I-10 on the opposite side of the freeway from Buc-ee’s. The store is expected to be open by late spring-early summer of next year. Cane Island is a 1,100 acre master-planned community that is just off I-10. Katy is the last suburb to Houston’s west.
