Holocaust Museum Houston to Double in Size

McCarthy Building Companies Inc. has been awarded the project to expand Holocaust Museum Houston (HMH) from its original size of 21,000 square feet to 57,000 square feet. Upon completion, the expansion will make HMH at 5401 Caroline St., in the Museum District, the fourth-largest Holocaust museum in the United States.

Construction on the facility, which will be named the Lester and Sue Smith Campus, is scheduled to begin in late 2017, and will consist of razing two-thirds of the current one-story building, and replacing it with a three-story structure. The first floor will consist of galleries, the second will expand the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Auditorium, while the third floor will hold new administration offices and the Boniuk Library.
