Holland Partner’s Courthouse Commons Passes Key Hurdle
Vancouver, WA-based Holland Partner Group received a key endorsement on Courthouse Commons, a proposed 37-story mixed-use development in downtown San Diego. An initial approval was granted by the City Council for a special financing mechanism for the $369-million project to proceed, with a stipulation requiring 20% of the 431 apartment units be reserved for low earners.
The lower eight floors encompass 235,000 square feet of office space and 17,000 square feet of retail space on a 1.25-acre site at 220 W. Broadway
Holland plans to seek up to $235 million in low-interest housing bonds to finance most of the residential portion of the development. Before the bonds are issued, Holland will need to file state applications for the award, as well as secure permits and council approval.
The project is being developed in partnership with Japanese builder North America Sekisui House. The project is anticipated to break ground next spring and open in summer 2023.
