Holiday 2019 Retail Sales Healthy; Mall Owners Get Creative

The advent of screen-to-door shopping may be the new retail frontier. But, mall owners and retailers are getting creative with entertainment, dining, and activity destinations to shift mall environments to consumer lifestyle and immediate demand shopping preferences. Expect these trends to be front and center at Connect Media’s upcoming Retail West Conference on Feb. 13.

CNBC: Mall owners are adjusting to changes in consumer online preferences, with Class A malls still a stand-out performer, and overall strategies are adjusting property uses in the Amazon era.

Financial Times: Low unemployment and rising wages that have kept Americans spending. E-commerce sales rose 18.8 percent over the holiday season, while growth at physical stores was just 1.2 percent.
