Historic Tacoma Building Renovated to Add 18 New Makerspace Units

Horizon Partners Northwest, Inc. announced the completion of a major renovation at the historic Willamette Building to include 18 makerspace studios.

The Willamette Building is a 242,229-square-foot brick industrial complex located at 2916–2926 S. Steele Street in Tacoma’s Nalley Valley corridor. Originally constructed in 1907 for the Willamette Casket Company, the building has long served as a home to industrial warehouse and office space tenants. The latest renovation in the five-story tower involves 35,000 square feet of new makerspace units, with Lee & Associates overseeing leasing.

The first and second floors are now exclusively dedicated to a makerspace concept, designed to support a wide range of uses. Makerspaces are shared work environments where individuals and businesses can design, experiment, and build.

Available suites range in size from 1,019 to 3,741 square feet. Listed on both the Tacoma and National Register of Historic Places, the Willamette Building offers access to Highway 16, Interstate 5, and Highway 509.
