Historic Nashville Building Converting to Boutique Hotel
Nashville-based hotel developer Imagine Hospitality is redeveloping the historic Morris Memorial building into a boutique hotel with a basement speakeasy.
The firm submitted a concept plan for the six-story mixed-use development. The hotel will offer 128 rooms and a 6,970-square-foot speakeasy in the existing basement. Franklin-based architecture firm Consortium is leading the design for the project.
Imagine Hospitality paid $10 million for the Morris building in December. Located at 330 Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Blvd. the structure was designed by Black-owned architecture firm McKissack & McKissack on land where Black people were once sold into slavery. It was long the home of the Nashville Baptist Convention, which printed hymnals and songbooks there.
Imagine Hospitality has developed several hotels in and around Nashville, including the Home2 Suites and Fairfield Inn and Suites in MetroCenter and the airport-area Hotel Preston.
