Historic spa, shooting range goes on the market

Historic Cypress Mineral Bath, Shooting Range Goes on the Market

The property was once a hotel and sanitarium, thanks to its artesian well. As many as 500 guests enjoyed the hot mineral baths at once. In the 1900’s wildcatters discovered the site and pretty soon built the Houston Hot Well and Sanitorium. After that it became home to the Hot Wells Shooting Range. The 48.6-acre parcel of land was recently listed for $8.5 million. The property is on the south side of Hwy. 290 between Fry and Barker Cypress roads.

Realtor Kathy McKinney represents the property with Compass. “There are a multitude of potential uses for this property that is so rich in history,” McKinney said. “The land could be ideal for single or multifamily development, commercial development, or even recreational development as in the past. There are very few parcels of land available in this size and area; it could even be an outstanding single-family sanctuary without having to leave town.”
