Hines Partners with Watermark, MorningStar on Senior Developments
Developer Hines launched a senior living program that will lead to senior housing developments with best-in-class operators. So far, the Houston developer formed joint ventures with Watermark Retirement Communities (Tucson, AZ) and MorningStar Senior Living (Denver) to build housing in the Heights and River Oaks areas, respectively.
Watermark Heights Senior Living, at 1231 W. 18th St., will offer 223 independent-living, assisted-living and memory care units. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2019, with opening planned in late 2021.
MorningStar at River Oaks Senior Living will be built on the site of a shuttered car dealership at 2315 Richmond Ave. in January 2020. The project, consisting of 112 assisted-living and memory-care units, is projected to open in fall 2021.
“We see it as our next step for our region into another great space,” Hines’ John Mooz told the Houston Chronicle.
