Hilton Buys Sydell Majority Stake to Expand NoMad Brand
Hilton has acquired a majority stake in Sydell Group to expand the NoMad Hotels brand globally. Sydell will handle design and management while Hilton leads development. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. NoMad operates in two cities: London and Las Vegas. Before the pandemic, Sydell had establishments in New York and Los Angeles, but they were shut down during the initial stages of the crisis.
“Adding NoMad to our growing brand portfolio will create new offerings for guests seeking unique luxury experiences in some of the world’s most desirable locations,” said Chris Silcock, president of global brands and commercial services at Hilton. “By pairing an already proven brand concept that’s ready for expansion with the power of Hilton’s commercial engine, we are accelerating our ability to drive growth in the luxury lifestyle segment.”
Up to 100 NoMad properties are projected worldwide, with 10 already in discussions, and all NoMad properties will remain independently owned. Flagship NoMad London will open for booking to Hilton guests, with plans for global expansion. NoMad Las Vegas is excluded from the transaction and will rebrand to a new flag in the coming months. NoMad joins Hilton’s portfolio alongside brands like Waldorf Astoria and Conrad, aiming to reach 600-700 luxury properties. Hilton also recently acquired the Graduate Hotels brand from Adventurous Journeys Capital Partners for $210 million.
