Highland Real Estate Acquires Historic Birmingham Apartment Property

Highland Real Estate Capital has acquired Jemison Flats, an historic, 59-unit apartment building in downtown Birmingham. The sales price was not disclosed.

Jemison Flats is located at 1827 1st Ave. in Birmingham’s Theater District. Originally built in 1928, the recently renovated seven-story building includes a mix of studio and loft-style apartments that offer views of downtown Birmingham and the South Side. Units feature original hardwood floors, exposed beam ceilings, stainless steel appliances, concrete countertops and in-unit washers and dryers. Community amenities include a fitness center, gated private park with grilling area and parking deck.

Mark Brandenburg and Chad Russell of JLL secured a three-year, floating-rate acquisition loan through Bridge Investment Group on behalf of Highland. The seller was not disclosed.
