Brookfield looking at Austin for Industrial park

Highflier Brookfield Developing Austin Industrial Project

At end of last year, Brookfield Asset Management was one of the largest real estate investors in the world, with $263 billion in assets under management. Its development arm, Brookfield Properties, has its eye on Austin, with plans to construct five industrial buildings making up more than 313,000 square feet of Highway 71.

The Austin Business Journal reports the development is planned for two tracts totaling a little more 53 acres, with the proposed buildings ranging in size from about 30,000 square feet to more than 87,000 square feet.

The development would be surrounded by other warehouses and a few office buildings, including Expo Business Park, Freeport Tech South and a Texas Department of Transportation campus. It would also be just north of McKinney Falls State Park and about a 10-minute drive from the airport and a 15-minute drive from the State Highway 130 toll road.

Atlanta-based Macgregor Associates Architects is attached as architect, while Kimley-Horn and Associates is listed as landscape architect, surveyor and engineer.
